Privacy Policy

One for One ("we", "us", or "our") operates the One for One dating app and website. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain-language on purpose.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Your email address, display name, and — if you choose email sign-in — a password, which we store only as a salted hash, never in plain text. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and a provider account identifier from that provider.
  • Profile information. The details you add to your profile: age, gender, bio, profile photos, and any social links you add.
  • Location. With your permission, your device's location, used to show you people nearby. You can't use the core matching features without sharing an approximate location, but your exact coordinates are never displayed to other users — they see only that you are within the search area.
  • Matching preferences. Who you want to see: gender preference, age range, and search distance.
  • Comparison and match data. When you compare two profiles and pick one, we record that choice and use it to rank profiles for you. Your ranking is combined with other users' rankings of you to produce match scores.
  • Messages. Chats between you and your matches, so your conversations are available on all your devices.
  • Device and push information. If you allow notifications, your device's push token and platform, plus your notification preferences (you can mute messages, pokes, or match alerts individually).
  • Safety and moderation data. Reports you submit about other users, and reports other users submit about you.

2. How we use information

  • To create your account and let you sign in.
  • To show you nearby people who match your preferences.
  • To rank profiles for you and calculate match scores between you and others.
  • To deliver chats, pokes, and push notifications.
  • To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, and blocking abuse.
  • To provide support and fix problems with the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. Who we share information with

  • Other users. Your profile (photos, name, age, bio, social links) is shown to users whose preferences match you. Your messages are shown to the people you send them to.
  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the app: hosting and database providers, Google and Apple for social sign-in, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications. These providers process data on our behalf under contract.
  • Legal reasons. If the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

4. Demo profiles

Some profiles in the app may be operated by us (for example, to make sure new members always have people to compare). Messages sent to these profiles are handled by our own systems and are not shared with third parties.

5. Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, photos, matches, and conversations. Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period, or where we are required to keep it by law. Reports and records needed for safety and fraud prevention may be kept after deletion, disassociated from your profile.

6. Your choices

  • Location. You can revoke location permission in your device settings; the matching features need it to work.
  • Notifications. Turn off individual notification types (messages, pokes, matches) in the app's settings, or disable notifications for the app entirely in your device settings.
  • Access, correction, deletion. You can view and edit your profile in the app, and delete your account in the app's settings. For anything else, contact us at support@1for1.app.

7. Children

One for One is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use the app, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe an underage person is using the app, please report the profile in the app or contact us.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and password hashing. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll change the effective date above when we do, and post the new version on this page. If a change is significant, we'll try to let you know in the app as well.
